Dontas hissed as he tore his fangs away from the hunter he held dead in his arms, his blacked out eyes searching the alley…this hunter wasn’t alone. Someone was watching him.

His eyes started to drain back to normal as he dropped his victim to the ground, shaking slightly until his electric irises shone blue again. Getting to his feet he cringed as his stomach wounds started to heal…groaning, moaning a little as the mix of pain and lust ran through him…he held his bloody side and ran….

-------

THUD!
The sound of another packet of cigarettes hit the counter in front of Loki, handing over a note as he took them, trying to keep his head down as the rest of the people in the store watched him suspiciously as he passed. He sighed, stepping outside and pulling his hood back up and placing a cigarette between his lips, raising his lighter…

“Can I have a light son?”

He turned round to see a small old lady standing next to him in the doorway, he half scowled at her as he lit his own cigarette and handed his lighter to her. She smiled as she put her shopping bags down on the ground next to her terrier, which by now was growling up at Loki, barking at him every so often.
Loki took a deep breath before blowing smoke out into the cold air, watching as it intertwined with his breath and rose up in the evening sky. It was beautiful. Dancing so elegantly in the breeze, curling and twisting…

“Cheer up son. It may never happen.”

Loki frowned as the old lady snapped him away from his daydream, he turned to look at her,

“What?”

He asked sounding annoyed, smoke floating from his mouth and towards her making her squint.

“You look miserable son.”

He just sniggered as he looked away again, making sure to take his lighter back, stuffing it into his pocket. He had never had the time for people like her, people who involved themselves in an observation and assumed it gave them the right to intervene. He ignored her, continuing to smoke and trying to get back to his daydream, finding it hard to think about anything other than that letter…

“Have you seen these posters son? For the new vampire hunters?”

She added as she blew her own smoke out into the air pointing to a poster on the shop wall as Loki sighed,

“Vampire hunters.” he mumbled in disgust, hating the idea, “It would be amazing to meet a vampire.”

The old lady looked shocked,

“How can you say that about such filth? It would kill you!”

Loki looked back at her, his eyes piercing and intense,

“Believe me…it would be a much better death than the one I’m suffering right now listening to you. Now, if you’ll excuse me…”

He turned and left her standing with her yappy dog still growling, muttering to the other people she saw in her clearly offended rage. Loki just chuckled to himself as he tossed the but end of his cigarette to the ground.
